The Sun Hydraulics DSGSXGN (DSGSXGN) is a highside shuttle cartridge designed primarily for use in full-time regeneration circuits. This valve is engineered to manage overrunning load control in applications where the load tends to extend the cylinder, although it does not prevent drift due to spool leakage. The valve features hardened spool/sleeve construction, which ensures excellent wear resistance and minimizes cross leakage. It operates within a T-33A cavity and is part of the Series 3 line, with a capacity of 60 gallons per minute (240 liters per minute) and a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). The DSGSXGN valve incorporates Sun's floating style construction, reducing the risk of internal parts binding from excessive installation torque or machining variations in the cavity/cartridge. Despite being designed for a four-port cavity, the nose port (port 1) remains unused. The valve's maximum leakage rate at 110 SUS (24 cSt) is 4 inches per minute at 1000 psi (65 cc/min at 70 bar). The installation torque ranges from 150 to 160 lbf-ft (203 to 217 Nm), and it weighs approximately 1.40 pounds (0.65 kg). Additionally, it is compatible with Viton seal kits, identified by part number 990033006.

High-side shuttle cartridges are most often used in full-time regeneration circuits. When both work ports (ports 2 and 4) are at equal pressures the valve is spring-centered to an all-ports-blocked position. When one of the work ports (port 2 or 4) sees a higher pressure it is connected to the common port (port 3).

  • This valve provides overrunning load control in regeneration applications where the load tends to extend the cylinder. Because there is spool leakage, it does not prevent drift.
  • Hardened spool/sleeve construction provides excellent wear characteristics and minimizes cross leakage.
  • Although this valve goes into a 4-port cavity, the nose (port 1) is not used.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
