The Sun Hydraulics DVCM8FN (DVCM8FN) is a normally open, 2-way directional cartridge valve designed for versatile hydraulic applications. It features an integral pilot control cavity, allowing it to function independently or in conjunction with larger pilot-operated directional cartridges or logic elements. The valve shifts when there is flow through the pilot control cartridge installed in the T8A cavity. It provides bidirectional flow between port 2 and port 3, with port 3 available for use as a work port. To operate effectively, there must be a pressure source at port 1 relative to port 4. This model incorporates Sun's floating style construction to minimize internal binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. The DVCM8FN is not bistable; it modulates between two positions as required by system demands. With a capacity of up to 15 gpm (60 L/min) and a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), this valve is capable of handling demanding hydraulic tasks. The control pilot flow ranges from 7 to 10 in³/min (0.11 to 0.16 L/min), while the maximum valve leakage at 110 SUS (24 cSt) is rated at 2 in³/min (30 cc/min) at 1000 psi (70 bar). The valve requires proper installation torque: the main stage should be installed with a torque value of 45-50 lbf·ft (61-68 Nm). It has a hex size of 1-1/8 inches (28.6 mm) and weighs approximately .50 lb (.25 kg). Additional components such as solenoid, air pilot, or hydraulic pilot operation cartridges can be incorporated directly into the directional cartridge via the T8A cavity, enhancing its functionality for specific applications. A Viton seal kit is available under part number 990022006 for maintenance purposes.

This valve is a normally open, 2-way directional cartridge that incorporates an integral pilot control cavity. It may be used by itself or to actuate larger pilot-operated directional cartridges or logic elements. The valve shifts when there is flow through the pilot control cartridge installed in the T-8A cavity.

• Port 3 can be used as a work port.
• The flow path between port 2 and port 3 is bidirectional.
• NOTE: The main stage valve should first be installed to the correct torque value followed by the T-8A pilot control section into the main stage valve to its required torque value.
• This valve is not bistable; it is capable of modulating between the two positions shown.
• There must be a pressure source at port 1, relative to port 4, to shift the valve.
• The -8 control option allows the pilot control valve to be incorporated directly into the end of the directional cartridge via the T-8A cavity. These pilot control cartridges are sold separately and include solenoid operation, air pilot operation, and hydraulic pilot operation. See Pilot Control Cartridges.
• Leakage listed in technical data is for each path.
• Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
