The Sun Hydraulics FLHAXDN (Material Number: FLHAXDN) is a specialized filter element designed for high-performance hydraulic systems. This product offers two types of filtration elements: Surface Type Last Chance and Depth Style. It is crucial to install these elements with the correct flow path from Port 2 to Port 1, as reversing the flow, even with a reverse free flow check valve, is not recommended. The filter elements are engineered to endure high collapse pressures and are intended for inline use within the system. Their lifespan will vary based on the initial cleanliness of the system and the level of dirt ingress during operation. Positioning the filter directly above the subplate ensures protection for the entire valve stack from contaminants. The design features a differential crush pressure rating of 3000 psid (210 bar). For systems utilizing phosphate ester fluids, cartridges with EPDM seals should be used, as exposure to petroleum-based fluids may damage these seals. The Surface Type element incorporates a 304 stainless steel mesh media, and all internal components are constructed from 304 stainless steel as well. It has a nominal rating of 40 microns and an absolute rating of 63 microns, making it adept at capturing particles that might bypass main system filters or result from component failures. Depth Type elements offer nominal ranges of 3 m, 10 m, and 25 m and feature pleated microglass media with clear zinc-coated components. They exhibit varying Beta ratios as indicated in performance curves. The filter is compatible with T16A cavities and Series 3 configurations, supporting a capacity of up to 40 gpm (160 L/min) at a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). Proper installation torque ranges between 150-160 lbf ft (203-217 Nm), and Viton seal kits are available for optimal performance.

Sun filter elements are available as Surface Type (Last Chance) and Depth Style elements. The flow path is Port 2 to Port 1 and should not be used in reverse, even with a reverse free flow check valve installed. The elements have a high collapse pressure and are intended to be used in line with the system. Filter life will depend on initial system cleanliness and the amount of dirt ingression to the system when operating.
