The Sun Hydraulics FPCCDAV912N (FPCCDAV912N) is a normally closed, electro-proportional throttle valve that is spring-biased to remain closed. When the coil is energized, it generates an opening force on the spool proportional to the command current, counteracted by the spring and flow forces. This balance creates a metering orifice with a size proportional to the current. The valve offers self-compensation in the 1 to 2 flow direction and provides proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with an external compensator. It allows full reverse flow from 2 to 1 with full command without a compensator under all conditions. Available in normally open or closed configurations, it supports pressures up to 5000 psi and exhibits low leakage levels when closed. The interchangeable coils can be mounted in either direction. Manual override options include no manual override and several other choices, with temporary actuation detent mechanisms available on some models. An amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither between 100-250 Hz is recommended for optimal performance. The valve uses EPDM seals for phosphate ester fluid systems and features Sun's floating style construction to minimize internal binding risks due to installation torque or machining variations. It fits into cavity T-13A, series 1, has a capacity of 10 gpm (40 L/min), and maintains maximum leakage at specified conditions of six cubic inches per minute at 3000 psi (100 cc/min at 210 bar). The manual override requires five pounds of force per thousand psi (33 N/100 bar) at port one, with a stroke length of .10 inches (2.5 mm). It has a solenoid tube diameter of .75 inches (19 mm) and an installation torque requirement between 30-35 lbf-ft (41-47 Nm). The model weighs approximately 1.10 pounds (0.50 kg) with coil included, and Viton seal kits are available for both cartridge and coil components.

This valve is a normally-closed, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased closed. Energizing the coil generates an opening force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with 100% command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.
- Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
- Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
- Low leakage levels in the closed position.
- Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
- This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
- For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
- On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
- The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
- Cartridges with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
