The Sun Hydraulics FPCCEAV924 (FPCCEAV924) is a normally-closed, electro-proportional throttle valve designed for precise flow control in hydraulic systems. This valve is spring-biased closed, and energizing the coil generates an opening force on the spool proportional to the command current. This force is balanced by the spring and flow forces, creating a metering orifice with an effective size proportional to the current. The FPCCEAV924 is capable of operating at pressures up to 5000 psi and offers low leakage levels when closed. It provides self-compensation in the 1 to 2 flow direction and can achieve proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with an external compensator. Additionally, full reverse flow from 2 to 1 with maximum command is possible without a compensator under all conditions. This model features interchangeable coils compatible with other Sun solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on either side of the tube. It also offers several manual override options, including configurations without manual override. For optimal performance, it is recommended to use an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither between 100–250 Hz. The valve incorporates Sun's floating style construction to minimize internal part binding due to installation torque or machining variations. The FPCCEAV924 fits into a T-13A cavity and has a capacity of 10 gpm (40 L/min). It requires a manual override force of 5 lbs/1000 psi at Port 1 and has a manual override stroke of .10 inches (2.5 mm). The solenoid tube diameter measures .75 inches (19 mm), while the valve hex size is .78 inches (22.2 mm). The recommended installation torque ranges from 30–35 lbf-ft (41–47 Nm), and its model weight with coil is approximately 1.10 lb (0.50 kg). For systems using phosphate ester fluids, cartridges with EPDM seals are available but should not be exposed to petroleum-based fluids or greases as this will damage the seals.

This valve is a normally-closed, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased closed. Energizing the coil generates an opening force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with 100% command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.
- Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
- Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
- Low leakage levels in the closed position.
- Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
- This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
- For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
- On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
- The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
- Cartridges with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
