The Sun Hydraulics FPCCEBV214N (FPCCEBV214N) is a normally closed, electro-proportional throttle valve designed for precise flow control in hydraulic systems. This valve utilizes a spring-biased mechanism that maintains it in a closed position until the coil is energized, at which point an opening force proportional to the command current is generated on the spool. This results in a metering orifice whose effective size varies with the input current, offering significant self-compensation capabilities from port 1 to 2 and proportional flow control from port 2 to 1 when used with an external compensator. Notably, it allows full reverse flow (port 2 to 1) without a compensator under all conditions when fully commanded. The FPCCEBV214N can operate under pressures up to 5000 psi and features low leakage levels when closed. It is compatible with interchangeable coils from Sun\u2019s range of solenoid-operated valves, allowing flexible installation options. The valve supports various manual override configurations and incorporates Sun's floating style construction, minimizing internal binding risks due to installation torque or machining variations. For optimal performance, utilizing an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither (between 100-250 Hz) is recommended. The valve\u2019s design includes options like momentary-twist manual overrides for user convenience. It fits into cavity T-13A and supports a capacity of up to 10 gpm (40 L/min). The use of EPDM seals makes it suitable for systems using phosphate ester fluids while being incompatible with petroleum-based substances. This component also features specific installation requirements such as a hex size of .78 inches (22.2 mm) and an installation torque range of 30-35 lbf ft (41-47 Nm).

This valve is a normally-closed, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased closed. Energizing the coil generates an opening force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with 100% command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.
- Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
- Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
- Low leakage levels in the closed position.
- Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
- This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
- For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
- On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
- The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
- Cartridges with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
