The Sun Hydraulics FPCCEDN812 (FPCCEDN812) is a normally closed, electroproportional throttle valve. It is designed to provide precise flow control by generating an opening force on the spool that is proportional to the command current. This force is balanced by a spring and flow forces, creating a metering orifice with an effective size corresponding to the current input. The valve can handle pressures up to 5000 psi and offers low leakage levels when in the closed position. Additionally, it supports full reverse flow from port 2 to port 1 without requiring an external compensator under all conditions when fully commanded in that direction. This model features interchangeable coils compatible with other solenoid-operated valves from Sun Hydraulics and can be mounted on either side of the tube. The cartridge incorporates Sun's floating style construction, which minimizes potential binding due to installation torque or machining variations. For enhanced performance, it's recommended to use an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither between 100-250 Hz. The FPCCEDN812 comes with multiple manual override options, including configurations without any manual override. The detent mechanism in certain manual overrides is intended for temporary actuation, with a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles. An optional momentary-twist override allows for manual operation by twisting it 90 degrees clockwise. This valve fits into Sun's T-13A cavity and belongs to Series 1 with a capacity of up to 10 gpm (40 L/min). It has a solenoid tube diameter of .75 inches (19 mm) and requires an installation torque between 30-35 lbf ft (41-47 Nm). The valve's construction ensures reliability in various hydraulic systems while maintaining efficient control over fluid flow dynamics.

This valve is a normally-closed, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased closed. Energizing the coil generates an opening force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with 100% command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.

  • Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
  • Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
  • Low leakage levels in the closed position.
  • Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
  • For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
  • Cartridges with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
