The Sun Hydraulics FPCCLAV712N (FPCCLAV712N) is a normally closed, electro-proportional throttle valve designed for precise flow control in hydraulic systems. This valve is engineered with a spring-biased closed mechanism, which allows it to open proportionally based on the command current applied to its coil. The balance between the opening force generated by the coil and the counteracting forces from the spring and fluid flow creates a metering orifice whose effective size adjusts according to the current, providing proportional flow control. Notably, the valve can achieve full reverse flow from port 2 to port 1 without an external compensator when fully energized. Available in both normally open and normally closed configurations, this versatile component can handle pressures up to 5000 psi while maintaining low leakage levels when closed. Its interchangeable coils are compatible with other solenoid-operated valves from Sun Hydraulics, offering flexibility in installation and operation. For enhanced performance, it is recommended to use an amplifier with current sensing capabilities and adjustable dither between 100-250 Hz. The FPCCLAV712N also features several manual override options for temporary actuation, including momentary-twist override and detent mechanisms with a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles. It incorporates Sun's floating-style construction to minimize internal binding risks due to installation torque variations or machining discrepancies. The valve fits into a T-13A cavity and has a capacity of 10 gpm (40 L/min). With Viton seal kits available for both cartridge and coil assemblies, this valve is suitable for systems using phosphate ester fluids but should avoid petroleum-based fluids that could damage its seals.

This valve is a normally-closed, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased closed. Energizing the coil generates an opening force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with 100% command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.

  • Cartridges with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
