The Sun Hydraulics FPCCLCV212N (FPCCLCV212N) is a normally closed, electroproportional throttle valve designed for precise flow control in hydraulic systems. This valve operates by balancing the opening force generated by energizing the coil with the spring and flow forces, creating a metering orifice that adjusts proportionally to the command current. It supports both normally open and normally closed configurations with three capacity ranges, making it versatile for various applications. The FPCCLCV212N can handle pressures up to 5000 psi and exhibits low leakage levels when closed. Its interchangeable coils can be mounted in either direction on the tube, enhancing compatibility with other Sun solenoid-operated valves. This cartridge valve features several manual override options, including a momentary twist option that allows temporary actuation by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees. To optimize performance, using an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither between 100-250 Hz is recommended. The valve incorporates Sun's floating style construction to minimize internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. The FPCCLCV212N has a cavity size of T-13A and is part of Series 1, with a capacity of 10 gpm (40 L/min). It has a maximum leakage rate of 6 in\u00b3/min at 3000 psi (100 cc/min at 210 bar) and requires a manual override force of 5 lbs/1000 psi (33 N/100 bar) at Port 1. With a solenoid tube diameter of .75 in (19 mm) and an installation torque requirement of 30-35 lbf ft (41-47 Nm), this model weighs approximately 1.10 lb (0.50 kg). For systems using phosphate ester fluids, cartridges with EPDM seals are available; however, exposure to petroleum-based fluids will damage these seals.

This valve is a normally-closed, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased closed. Energizing the coil generates an opening force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with 100% command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.
- Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
- Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
- Low leakage levels in the closed position.
- Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
- This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
- For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
- On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
- The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
- Cartridges with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
