The Sun Hydraulics FPCCLCV824 (FPCCLCV824) is a normally closed, electroproportional throttle valve designed for precise flow control in hydraulic systems. This valve is characterized by its spring-biased closed position and utilizes an energizing coil to generate an opening force on the spool, which is proportional to the command current. This force is balanced by the spring and flow forces to create a metering orifice with an effective size that corresponds to the current. The FPCCLCV824 offers significant self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and can achieve proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with an external compensator. It supports full reverse flow from 2 to 1 without a compensator under all conditions when fully commanded. This model is available in both normally open and normally closed configurations and comes in three different capacity ranges, capable of handling pressures up to 5000 psi while maintaining low leakage levels when closed. The coils are interchangeable with other Sun solenoid-operated valves, offering flexibility in installation direction. For optimal performance, it is recommended to use an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither between 100-250 Hz. The FPCCLCV824 features several manual override options, including no manual override, with specific models equipped with temporary actuation detent mechanisms. The momentary-twist override option allows manual operation by twisting the override clockwise by 90 degrees. Additionally, cartridges with EPDM seals are designed for systems using phosphate ester fluids only. Constructed using Sun's floating style design, this valve minimizes binding risks due to installation torque or cavity-cartridge machining variations. It fits into T13A cavities and boasts a capacity of up to 10 gpm (40 L/min). The valve's dimensions include a solenoid tube diameter of .75 inches (19 mm), a hex size of .78 inches (22.2 mm), requiring installation torque between 30-35 lbf ft (41-47 Nm).

This valve is a normally-closed, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased closed. Energizing the coil generates an opening force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with 100% command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.

  • Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
  • Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
  • Low leakage levels in the closed position.
  • Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
  • For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
  • Cartridges with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
