The Sun Hydraulics FPCCLDN612N (FPCCLDN612N) is a normally closed, electro-proportional throttle valve designed to provide precise flow control in hydraulic systems. This valve utilizes a spring-biased mechanism that keeps it closed until an electrical current is applied to the coil, generating an opening force on the spool proportional to the command current. This results in a metering orifice with an effective size directly proportional to the current applied. The FPCCLDN612N exhibits significant self-compensation in flow direction from port 1 to port 2 and can achieve proportional flow control from port 2 to port 1 with an external compensator. Notably, full reverse flow from port 2 to port 1 is achievable without a compensator under all conditions when fully energized. Available in both normally open and normally closed configurations, this valve supports three different capacity ranges and can operate under pressures up to 5000 psi. It features low leakage levels when closed and interchangeable coils compatible with other solenoid-operated valves. The cartridge includes several manual override options and incorporates Sun's floating style construction, minimizing potential binding of internal parts due to installation torque or machining variations. For optimal performance, it is recommended that this valve be used with an amplifier featuring current sensing and adjustable dither between 100-250 Hz. Manual override options include temporary actuation mechanisms with a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles for certain models. Additionally, cartridges equipped with EPDM seals are suitable for use with phosphate ester fluids but should avoid exposure to petroleum-based fluids to prevent seal damage. The FPCCLDN612N fits into cavity T-13A, has a capacity of 10 gpm (40 L/min), and features low maximum valve leakage at specified conditions. It ensures reliable operation through its robust design tailored for demanding hydraulic applications.

This valve is a normally-closed, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased closed. Energizing the coil generates an opening force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with 100% command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.
- Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
- Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
- Low leakage levels in the closed position.
- Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
- This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
- For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
- On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
- The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
- Cartridges with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
