The Sun Hydraulics FPCCLDN724 (FPCCLDN724) is a normally closed, electro-proportional throttle valve designed for precise flow control in hydraulic systems. This valve operates by balancing the opening force generated by energizing the coil, which is proportional to the command current, against the spring and flow forces. This creates a metering orifice whose size adjusts according to the current, allowing for self-compensated flow control in one direction and proportional flow control in the reverse with an external compensator. It supports full reverse flow without a compensator under all conditions when fully commanded. The FPCCLDN724 can operate at pressures up to 5000 psi and maintains low leakage levels when closed. It is available in both normally open and closed configurations with three capacity ranges. The interchangeable coils can be mounted in either direction on the solenoid tube, making it versatile for various applications. Manual override options are available, including momentary-twist override, which allows temporary actuation by twisting 90 degrees clockwise. For optimal performance, using an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither between 100-250 Hz is recommended. The valve incorporates Sun's floating style construction to prevent internal binding from installation torque or machining variations. It features a T13A cavity with a series 1 capacity of 10 gpm (40 L/min) and minimal leakage at maximum pressure conditions. The valve's compact design includes a hex size of 7/8 inches (22.2 mm) and requires an installation torque of 30-35 lbf-ft (41-47 Nm). Weighing approximately 1.10 lb (0.50 kg) with coil, it offers flexibility through various seal options compatible with different fluid types while ensuring durability across approximately 7,000 manual override cycles for specific models equipped with detent mechanisms.

This valve is a normally-closed, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased closed. Energizing the coil generates an opening force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with 100% command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.
- Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
- Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
- Low leakage levels in the closed position.
- Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
- This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
- For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
- On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
- The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
- Cartridges with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
