The Sun Hydraulics FPCCMDV214N (FPCCMDV214N) is a versatile, normally closed electroproportional throttle valve designed for precise flow control in hydraulic systems. This valve is spring-biased to remain closed and opens in response to an electrical command current, allowing for proportional control of the spool position. It features self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and enables proportional flow control from 2 to 1 with an external compensator. The valve can handle full reverse flow without a compensator under all conditions when fully energized. With a maximum operating pressure of up to 5000 psi, this valve is suitable for demanding applications requiring reliable performance. Available in both normally open and normally closed configurations, the FPCCMDV214N offers three capacity ranges and maintains low leakage levels when closed. It uses interchangeable coils compatible with other Sun solenoid-operated valves, providing flexibility in installation. The valve incorporates a floating style construction that minimizes internal part binding due to excessive torque or machining variations. Manual override options include several configurations, such as no manual override or a momentary-twist option that allows temporary manual actuation by twisting the override mechanism. For optimal performance, it is recommended to use an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither settings between 100-250 Hz. The valve's mechanical components have an expected life of approximately 7,000 cycles. The FPCCMDV214N fits into a T-13A cavity and has a capacity of 10 gpm (40 L/min). Its compact design includes a solenoid tube diameter of .75 inches (19 mm) and requires an installation torque between 30-35 lbf ft (41-47 Nm). Seals are available for systems using phosphate ester fluids but should not be exposed to petroleum-based substances.

This valve is a normally-closed, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased closed. Energizing the coil generates an opening force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with 100% command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.
- Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
- Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
- Low leakage levels in the closed position.
- Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
- This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
- For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
- On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
- The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
- Cartridges with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
