The Sun Hydraulics FPCCTAN712 (FPCCTAN712) is a normally closed, electro-proportional throttle valve designed for precise flow control in hydraulic systems. This cartridge valve is spring-biased to remain closed and opens in proportion to the command current applied, balancing the generated force with spring and flow forces to create a metering orifice. It offers self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and can achieve proportional flow control from 2 to 1 with an external compensator. The valve supports full reverse flow from 2 to 1 without a compensator when fully commanded. Available configurations include normally open or closed options with three capacity ranges, operating at pressures up to 5000 psi. It features low leakage levels when closed and interchangeable coils that can be mounted bidirectionally on the tube. The FPCCTAN712 incorporates Sun's floating style construction, reducing risks of internal binding due to installation torque or cavity machining variations. For optimal performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither (100-250 Hz) is recommended. Manual override options are available, including momentary twist override for temporary actuation. The valve accommodates EPDM seals for compatibility with phosphate ester fluids but requires avoidance of petroleum-based substances. Key specifications include a T-13A cavity, series 1 designation, and a capacity of 10 gpm (40 L/min). The maximum valve leakage at 110 SUS (24 cSt) is rated at 6 in\u00b3/min at 3000 psi (100 cc/min at 210 bar). Installation requires a torque of 30-35 lbf ft (41-47 Nm), and the solenoid tube diameter is .75 inches (19 mm). The model weighs approximately 1.10 lb (0.50 kg) with coil, and optional Viton seal kits are available for both cartridge and coil components.

This valve is a normally-closed, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased closed. Energizing the coil generates an opening force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with 100% command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.

  • Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
  • Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
  • Low leakage levels in the closed position.
  • Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
  • For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
  • Cartridges with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
