The Sun Hydraulics FPCCTAN812N (FPCCTAN812N) is a normally-closed, electro-proportional throttle valve designed for precise flow control in hydraulic systems. It is spring-biased to remain closed until the coil is energized, which generates an opening force on the spool proportional to the command current. This force balance creates a metering orifice with an effective size proportional to the current. The valve features self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and can provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction when used with an external compensator, though full reverse flow from 2 to 1 is possible without a compensator under all conditions. The valve operates efficiently at pressures up to 5000 psi and maintains low leakage levels when closed. It is available in both normally open and normally closed configurations, with three different capacity ranges. Interchangeable coils allow for flexibility in installation, as they can be mounted on the tube in either direction, and several manual override options are available, including no manual override for specific applications. For optimal performance, it is recommended that an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither be used; dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz. The valve incorporates Sun's floating style construction to minimize potential issues from excessive installation torque or machining variations. The FPCCTAN812N fits into a T-13A cavity and belongs to Series 1 with a capacity of up to 10 gpm (40 L/min). Its maximum valve leakage at 110 SUS (24 cSt) is specified as 6 in\u00b3/min at 3000 psi (100 cc/min at 210 bar). The solenoid tube diameter measures .75 inches (19 mm), while its hex size is .78 inches (22.2 mm). Installation torque ranges from 30 - 35 lbf ft (41 - 47 Nm), and its model weight with coil is approximately 1.10 lb (0.50 kg).

This valve is a normally-closed, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased closed. Energizing the coil generates an opening force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with 100% command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.
- Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
- Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
- Low leakage levels in the closed position.
- Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
- This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
- For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
- On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
- The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
- Cartridges with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
