The Sun Hydraulics FPCCTAV712N (FPCCTAV712N) is a normally-closed, electro-proportional throttle valve designed for precise flow control in hydraulic systems. This valve operates by balancing the opening force generated by the energized coil against spring and flow forces, resulting in a metering orifice whose size is proportional to the command current. It features self-compensation for flow control from port 1 to 2 and allows full reverse flow from port 2 to 1 with full command without requiring an external compensator. The valve can handle pressures up to 5000 psi and offers low leakage levels when closed. It is available in normally open or closed configurations with three capacity ranges and uses interchangeable coils compatible with other Sun solenoid-operated valves. For optimal performance, it should be paired with an amplifier featuring current sensing and adjustable dither between 100 - 250 Hz. The FPCCTAV712N incorporates Sun's floating style construction, reducing the risk of internal binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. Manual override options include various configurations, such as momentary-twist or detent mechanisms, each designed for temporary actuation with a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles. Models equipped with EPDM seals are suitable for systems using phosphate ester fluids but should avoid petroleum-based substances to prevent seal damage. The valve fits into T13A cavities and has a series capacity of 10 gpm (40 L/min) with maximum leakage at specified conditions being minimal. Installation requires specific torque settings, and the unit's weight including coil is approximately 1.10 lb (0.50 kg). Optional Viton seal kits are available for maintenance purposes.

This valve is a normally-closed, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased closed. Energizing the coil generates an opening force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with 100% command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.
- Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
- Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
- Low leakage levels in the closed position.
- Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
- This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
- For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
- On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
- The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
- Cartridges with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
