The Sun Hydraulics FPCCTBN71299 (FPCCTBN71299) is a sophisticated electroproportional throttle valve designed for precise flow control in hydraulic systems. This normally closed valve is spring-biased to remain shut until the coil is energized, which generates an opening force on the spool proportional to the command current. The balanced forces between the spring and flow create a metering orifice whose effective size adjusts with the current, offering a high degree of self-compensation in one direction and proportional flow control in the opposite direction with an external compensator. Capable of handling pressures up to 5000 psi, this valve ensures low leakage levels when closed and supports full reverse flow without a compensator under all conditions. Available in both normally open and closed configurations, it features three different capacity ranges, making it adaptable to various applications. The design incorporates Sun's floating style construction to minimize internal binding risks due to installation variances. It also offers several manual override options, including a momentary-twist option that allows temporary actuation by twisting the manual override 90 degrees clockwise. For optimal performance, it is recommended to use an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither between 100-250 Hz. This cartridge fits into a T-13A cavity with a capacity of 10 gpm (40 L/min) and exhibits minimal leakage at 6 in\u00b3/min (100 cc/min) at 3000 psi (210 bar). The solenoid tube has a diameter of .75 inches (19 mm), while the valve itself requires an installation torque between 30-35 lbf ft (41-47 Nm). For systems using phosphate ester fluids, cartridges with EPDM seals are available but should not be exposed to petroleum-based products.

This valve is a normally-closed, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased closed. Energizing the coil generates an opening force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with 100% command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.
- Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
- Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
- Low leakage levels in the closed position.
- Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
- This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
- For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
- On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
- The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
- Cartridges with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
