The Sun Hydraulics FPCCTBN712N (FPCCTBN712N) is a normally closed, electro-proportional throttle valve designed for precise flow control in hydraulic systems. This valve, which is spring-biased to remain closed, opens proportionally to the command current applied to its coil, balancing this force with the spring and flow forces to create a metering orifice. It offers self-compensation in one direction and requires an external compensator for proportional flow control in the opposite direction. The valve can handle pressures up to 5000 psi and supports full reverse flow without a compensator under all conditions when fully energized. Available in both normally open and closed configurations, it comes with three capacity ranges and features low leakage levels when closed. Its solenoid coils are interchangeable with other Sun solenoid-operated valves, allowing flexible installation. The FPCCTBN712N also includes multiple manual override options, such as a momentary twist override that shifts the valve when rotated 90 degrees clockwise. For optimal performance, it is recommended to use an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither between 100-250 Hz. The cartridge construction minimizes binding risks from excessive torque or machining variations. Models equipped with EPDM seals are suitable for systems using phosphate ester fluids but should not be exposed to petroleum-based substances. The FPCCTBN712N fits into a T-13A cavity and has a capacity of 10 gpm (40 L/min). It exhibits minimal leakage at high viscosity levels and requires specific manual override force for operation. The valve's installation parameters include a hex size of 7/8 inches (22.2 mm) and torque settings between 30-35 lbf ft (41-47 Nm). With a weight of approximately 1.10 lb (0.50 kg), it is compact yet robust for demanding applications requiring reliable hydraulic flow control.

This valve is a normally-closed, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased closed. Energizing the coil generates an opening force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with 100% command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.

  • Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
  • Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
  • Low leakage levels in the closed position.
  • Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
  • For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
  • Cartridges with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
