The Sun Hydraulics FPCCTBV2B24V (FPCCTBV2B24V) is a normally-closed, electroproportional throttle valve designed for precise hydraulic flow control. This valve operates by using an electrical coil to generate an opening force on the spool, which is proportional to the command current. This force is countered by a spring and flow forces, creating a metering orifice whose effective size adjusts according to the current, allowing for fine-tuned flow control. The valve can operate effectively with pressures up to 5000 psi and maintains low leakage levels when closed. It offers versatility with configurations available in both normally open and normally closed settings, along with three different capacity ranges. For optimal performance, it is recommended to use an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither between 100-250 Hz. The FPCCTBV2B24V also features interchangeable coils that are compatible with other Sun solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted in either direction on the tube. Manual override options are available, including no manual override or various temporary actuation mechanisms like the momentary-twist option E, allowing manual shifting of the valve by twisting 90 degrees clockwise. The valve incorporates Sun's floating style construction to minimize binding risks due to installation torque or machining variations. It fits into a T-13A cavity and has a maximum capacity of 10 gpm (40 L/min). The solenoid tube diameter is .75 inches (19 mm), with a hex size of .78 inches (22.2 mm). Installation torque ranges from 30-35 lbf ft (41-47 Nm), and the model weighs approximately 1.10 lb (0.50 kg) with the coil included. Seal kits are available for maintaining system integrity, particularly for applications using phosphate ester fluids where EPDM seals are necessary to prevent damage from petroleum-based substances.

This valve is a normally-closed, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased closed. Energizing the coil generates an opening force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with 100% command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.

  • Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
  • Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
  • Low leakage levels in the closed position.
  • Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
  • For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
  • Cartridges with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
