The Sun Hydraulics FPCCTBV712 (FPCCTBV712) is a normally closed, electroproportional throttle valve designed for precise flow control in hydraulic systems. This valve is spring-biased to remain closed and utilizes an energized coil to generate an opening force proportional to the command current. This force is balanced by the spring and flow forces, creating a metering orifice whose size varies with the current. Notably, the valve offers self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and facilitates proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction when paired with an external compensator. It allows full reverse flow from 2 to 1 without a compensator under all conditions. Available in normally open or closed configurations, it supports three capacity ranges and operates at pressures up to 5000 psi. The valve features low leakage levels when closed, interchangeable coils compatible with other Sun solenoid-operated valves, and can be mounted bi-directionally on the tube. For optimal performance, using an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither between 100-250 Hz is recommended. The manual override comes in several options, including a momentary-twist override that shifts the valve by twisting clockwise by 90 degrees. The cartridge construction minimizes binding due to installation torque or machining variations. It fits into a T-13A cavity and has a capacity of up to 10 gpm (40 L/min). The valve's manual override requires approximately 5 lbs of force per 1000 psi at Port 1 and has a stroke length of .10 inches (2.5 mm). Its solenoid tube diameter measures .75 inches (19 mm), with a hex size of .78 inches (22.2 mm) for installation torque ranging from 30-35 lbf-ft (41-47 Nm). The model weighs approximately 1.10 lb (0.50 kg) with coil included, and Viton seal kits are available for both cartridge and coil assemblies for enhanced durability in various fluid environments.

This valve is a normally-closed, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased closed. Energizing the coil generates an opening force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with 100% command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.

  • Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
  • Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
  • Low leakage levels in the closed position.
  • Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
  • For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
  • Cartridges with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
