The Sun Hydraulics FPCCTCN2B12V (Material Number: FPCCTCN2B12V) is a normally closed, electro-proportional throttle valve designed for precise flow control in hydraulic systems. This valve is spring-biased to maintain a closed position and utilizes an electric coil to generate an opening force on the spool that is proportional to the command current. The balance of forces between the coil, spring, and flow creates a metering orifice whose effective size adjusts based on the current, offering a high degree of self-compensation in one direction and proportional flow control in the opposite direction with an external compensator. Capable of operating at pressures up to 5000 psi, this model offers low leakage levels when closed and supports full reverse flow without a compensator under certain conditions. The valve is versatile with options for normally open or closed configurations and three capacity ranges. It features interchangeable coils compatible with other Sun solenoid-operated valves, allowing flexible installation orientations. For optimal performance, it is recommended to use an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither between 100-250 Hz. Manual override options include no manual override or temporary actuation mechanisms with mechanical life expectancy around 7,000 cycles. This cartridge valve incorporates Sun's floating style construction to minimize internal part binding due to installation torque variations or machining inconsistencies. It also offers EPDM seals suitable for systems using phosphate ester fluids while being incompatible with petroleum-based substances. The valve fits into cavity T-13A, has a capacity of 10 gpm (40 L/min), and features a maximum leakage rate of 6 in\u00b3/min at 3000 psi (100 cc/min at 210 bar). With dimensions including a solenoid tube diameter of .75 inches (19 mm) and requiring an installation torque of 30-35 lbf ft (41-47 Nm), this model weighs approximately 1.10 lb (0.50 kg) with the coil attached.

This valve is a normally-closed, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased closed. Energizing the coil generates an opening force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with 100% command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.
- Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
- Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
- Low leakage levels in the closed position.
- Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
- This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
- For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
- On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
- The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
- Cartridges with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
