The Sun Hydraulics FPCCTDN4F12V (Material Number: FPCCTDN4F12V) is a normally closed, electro-proportional throttle valve. This advanced hydraulic component is designed to provide precise flow control by balancing energizing coil forces against spring and flow forces, creating a metering orifice whose size is proportional to the command current. The valve offers significant self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and enables proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with an external compensator. It supports full reverse flow from port 2 to port 1 under all conditions without a compensator when fully commanded. This valve can operate at pressures up to 5000 psi and features low leakage levels when closed. The interchangeable coils can be mounted in either direction, offering flexibility with other solenoid-operated valves from Sun Hydraulics. It also features various manual override options, including no manual override, with some configurations offering temporary actuation via a detent mechanism or a momentary-twist option. For optimal performance, it is recommended to use an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither between 100-250 Hz. The valve's construction minimizes internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or cavity machining variations. Additionally, cartridges equipped with EPDM seals are suitable for systems using phosphate ester fluids but should avoid petroleum-based fluids. The FPCCTDN4F12V fits into T-13A cavities and belongs to Series 1 with a capacity of up to 10 gpm (40 L/min). Its design includes specific installation requirements such as a hex size of .78 inches (22.2 mm) and installation torque of 30-35 lbf ft (41-47 Nm). The model weighs approximately 1.10 lb (0.50 kg) when equipped with a coil, and Viton seal kits are available for maintenance purposes.

This valve is a normally-closed, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased closed. Energizing the coil generates an opening force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with 100% command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.
- Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
- Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
- Low leakage levels in the closed position.
- Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
- This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
- For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
- On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
- The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
- Cartridges with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
