The Sun Hydraulics FPCCTDV (FPCCTDV) is a normally-closed, electro-proportional throttle valve designed for precise flow control in hydraulic systems. This valve is spring-biased to remain closed, and upon energizing the coil, it generates an opening force on the spool proportional to the command current. This force is countered by the spring and flow forces, creating a metering orifice whose effective size adjusts with the current. It features significant self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and can provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction when used with an external compensator. The valve allows full reverse flow from 2 to 1 without a compensator under all conditions. Available configurations include normally open or normally closed options with three capacity ranges, capable of handling pressures up to 5000 psi. The valve maintains low leakage levels in its closed position and uses interchangeable coils compatible with other solenoid-operated valves from Sun Hydraulics. For installation flexibility, coils can be mounted on the tube in either direction. The cartridge offers several manual override options, including no manual override, and models equipped with D or L controls feature a temporary detent mechanism for manual actuation. Optimal performance requires an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither between 100-250 Hz. Cartridges fitted with EPDM seals are suitable for systems using phosphate ester fluids but should avoid petroleum-based substances as they may cause seal damage. The Sun floating style construction minimizes internal binding risks due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. The FPCCTDV model fits into cavity T-13A from Series 1 and has a capacity of up to 10 gpm (40 L/min). It features a maximum valve leakage of 6 in\u00b3/min at 3000 psi (100 cc/min at 210 bar) and requires a manual override force of approximately 5 lbs/1000 psi (33 N/100 bar).

This valve is a normally-closed, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased closed. Energizing the coil generates an opening force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with 100% command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.
- Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
- Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
- Low leakage levels in the closed position.
- Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
- This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
- For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
- On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
- The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
- Cartridges with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
