The Sun Hydraulics FPCCTDV912 (FPCCTDV912) is a sophisticated electro-proportional throttle valve designed for precision flow control in hydraulic systems. This normally closed valve is engineered to be spring-biased in the closed position, opening proportionally to the electric current applied to its coil. This mechanism ensures a precise balance between the spring force and flow forces, creating an effective metering orifice that adjusts with current input. It features self-compensation capabilities in one direction and can achieve proportional flow control with an external compensator in the opposite direction. The valve supports full reverse flow without a compensator when fully energized. Available with three capacity ranges, this valve can operate under pressures up to 5000 psi while maintaining low leakage levels when closed. Its design allows for interchangeable coils with other Sun solenoid-operated valves, enhancing versatility and ease of use. The FPCCTDV912 offers several manual override options, including configurations without manual override, and features a momentary-twist override option for temporary actuation. For optimal performance, it is recommended to use an amplifier with adjustable dither between 100 and 250 Hz. The valve's construction incorporates Sun's floating style design to minimize internal binding risks due to installation torque or machining variations. Additionally, cartridges with EPDM seals are suitable for systems using phosphate ester fluids but should not be exposed to petroleum-based substances. The FPCCTDV912 fits into a T-13A cavity and belongs to Series 1 with a capacity of 10 gpm (40 L/min). It requires specific installation torque and has defined manual override force requirements and stroke lengths. The model weighs approximately 1.10 lb (0.50 kg) when equipped with a coil, ensuring manageable integration into hydraulic systems where precise control is paramount.

This valve is a normally-closed, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased closed. Energizing the coil generates an opening force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with 100% command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.

  • Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
  • Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
  • Low leakage levels in the closed position.
  • Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
  • For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
  • Cartridges with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
