The Sun Hydraulics FPCCXCV824 (FPCCXCV824) is a normally closed, electro-proportional throttle valve designed for precise flow control in hydraulic systems. This valve is spring-biased to remain closed and opens proportionally to the current applied to its coil. It features a high degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and can achieve proportional flow control in the reverse direction with an external compensator. The valve supports full reverse flow without a compensator under all conditions when fully energized in the 2 to 1 direction. Available in normally open or closed configurations, it handles pressures up to 5000 psi while maintaining low leakage levels when closed. The interchangeable coils can be mounted in either direction on the tube, and several manual override options are available for added flexibility. Optimally, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither between 100-250 Hz should be used for best performance. The valve's manual override options include temporary actuation mechanisms with a life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles. The momentary-twist option allows manual shifting by rotating the override clockwise by 90 degrees. Cartridges equipped with EPDM seals are suitable for use with phosphate ester fluids but are incompatible with petroleum-based substances. The FPCCXCV824 incorporates Sun's floating style construction to mitigate internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. It fits into a T-13A cavity, has a capacity of up to 10 gpm (40 L/min), and exhibits maximum leakage of 6 cu.in/min at pressures of up to 3000 psi (210 bar). The solenoid tube diameter is .75 inches (19 mm), requiring installation torque between 30-35 lbf ft (41-47 Nm). This model weighs approximately 1.10 pounds (0.50 kg) when equipped with a coil, and Viton seal kits are available for both cartridge and coil components.

This valve is a normally-closed, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased closed. Energizing the coil generates an opening force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with 100% command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.
- Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
- Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
- Low leakage levels in the closed position.
- Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
- This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
- For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
- On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
- The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
- Cartridges with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
