The Sun Hydraulics FPCCXDN724N (FPCCXDN724N) is a normally closed, electro-proportional throttle valve designed for precise flow control in hydraulic systems. This valve is spring-biased to remain closed until energized, at which point the coil generates an opening force on the spool proportional to the command current. This creates a metering orifice that adjusts its size based on the current, allowing for accurate flow modulation. It offers significant self-compensation in one direction and permits proportional flow control in reverse with an external compensator. The valve can handle pressures up to 5000 psi and features low leakage when closed. It's available in both normally open and closed configurations with three capacity ranges, providing versatility for various applications. The valve's interchangeable coils are compatible with other Sun solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted bidirectionally on the tube. It offers several manual override options, including temporary actuation mechanisms with a life expectancy of about 7,000 cycles. For optimal performance, using an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither between 100-250 Hz is recommended. The FPCCXDN724N incorporates Sun's floating style construction to minimize internal binding risks due to installation torque or machining variations. This cartridge fits into a T-13A cavity and has a capacity of 10 gpm (40 L/min). Its maximum leakage at 110 SUS (24 cSt) is rated at 6 in\u00b3/min at 3000 psi (100 cc/min at 210 bar). The manual override requires a force of approximately 5 lbs/1000 psi (33 N/100 bar) at Port 1, with a stroke length of .10 inches (2.5 mm). It has a solenoid tube diameter of .75 inches (19 mm), hex size of .78 inches (22.2 mm), and installation torque between 30-35 lbf\u00b7ft (41-47 Nm). The model weighs approximately 1.10 lb (0.50 kg) when equipped with a coil, and it uses Viton seals suitable for phosphate ester fluids but not petroleum-based substances.

This valve is a normally-closed, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased closed. Energizing the coil generates an opening force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with 100% command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.
- Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
- Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
- Low leakage levels in the closed position.
- Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
- This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
- For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
- On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
- The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
- Cartridges with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
