The Sun Hydraulics FPCHDCN (FPCHDCN) is a normally open, electro-proportional throttle valve designed for precise flow control in hydraulic systems. This valve is spring-biased to remain open and utilizes an energized coil to generate a closing force on the spool proportional to the command current. This force is counteracted by the spring and flow forces, resulting in a metering orifice whose effective size adjusts according to the current applied. The valve features significant self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and allows for proportional flow control from 2 to 1 with an external compensator. It can also achieve full reverse flow from 2 to 1 without a command under all conditions when no compensator is used. Available in both normally open and normally closed configurations, this valve supports three different capacity ranges and operates efficiently at pressures up to 5000 psi while maintaining low leakage levels when closed. The coils are interchangeable with other solenoid-operated valves from Sun Hydraulics and can be mounted in either direction on the tube. The FPCHDCN offers several manual override options, including configurations without manual overrides, for versatile operation. For optimal performance, it is recommended to use an amplifier equipped with current sensing and adjustable dither capabilities, ideally adjustable between 100-250 Hz. Models featuring D or L control include a detent mechanism intended for temporary actuation, with manual control assemblies offering approximately 7,000 cycles of mechanical life expectancy. The momentary-twist override option E enables operators to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise by 90 degrees. Constructed using Sun's floating style design, this cartridge minimizes internal part binding risks due to excessive installation torque or cavity-cartridge machining variations. Key specifications include a T-13A cavity series configuration with a capacity of 7 gpm (28 L/min), maximum leakage at specified conditions of 6 in\u00b3/min (100 cc/min), solenoid tube diameter of .75 inches (19 mm), and installation torque between 30-35 lbf-ft (41-47 Nm).

This valve is a normally-open, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased open. Energizing the coil generates an closing force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with no command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.

  • Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
  • Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
  • Low leakage levels in the closed position.
  • Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
  • For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
