The Sun Hydraulics FPCHDCN4F24V (FPCHDCN4F24V) is a normally-open, electro-proportional throttle valve designed for precise flow control in hydraulic systems. This valve is spring-biased open, and energizing the coil applies a closing force on the spool that is proportional to the command current. This interaction creates a metering orifice whose size adjusts according to the current, allowing for accurate flow regulation. The valve features self-compensation in one flow direction and can achieve proportional flow control in the reverse direction with an external compensator. It supports full reverse flow without a command signal under all conditions. The FPCHDCN4F24V operates efficiently at pressures up to 5000 psi and offers low leakage levels when closed. Its solenoid coils are interchangeable with other Sun solenoid-operated valves, providing flexibility in installation. The cartridge design incorporates Sun's floating style construction to prevent internal part binding due to installation torque or machining variations. Manual override options include several configurations, such as no manual override or a momentary-twist option that allows manual operation by twisting 90 degrees clockwise. For optimal performance, using an amplifier with adjustable dither between 100-250 Hz is recommended. The valve's cavity size is T-13A, with a capacity of 7 gpm (28 L/min). It has minimal leakage at specified conditions and requires specific force for manual override operation. Overall, this valve suits applications requiring reliable proportional flow control with high precision and adaptability in hydraulic circuits.

This valve is a normally-open, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased open. Energizing the coil generates an closing force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with no command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.
- Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
- Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
- Low leakage levels in the closed position.
- Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
- This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
- For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
- On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
- The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
