The Sun Hydraulics FPCHDCV724 (FPCHDCV724) is a normally open, electroproportional throttle valve designed for precise flow control in hydraulic systems. This valve operates by balancing forces between a spring and an energized coil, which adjusts the spool position according to the command current. This creates a metering orifice that adjusts proportionally with the current, allowing for controlled flow in both directions. It offers significant self-compensation in one direction and requires an external compensator for proportional flow control in the opposite direction. The FPCHDCV724 can handle pressures up to 5000 psi and is available in configurations with different capacity ranges and manual override options. The valve's construction minimizes internal binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations, ensuring reliable performance. It features interchangeable coils compatible with other Sun solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted either way on the tube. The FPCHDCV724 also supports multiple manual override choices, including options without manual override for flexibility in application. For optimal functionality, pairing this valve with an amplifier equipped with current sensing and adjustable dither\u2014ranging between 100-250 Hz\u2014is recommended. The mechanical life expectancy of manual control assemblies is approximately 7,000 cycles, providing durability for temporary actuation needs. Additionally, it incorporates Sun's floating style construction to enhance reliability. This cartridge valve fits into a T-13A cavity and boasts a capacity of 7 gpm (28 L/min). It maintains low leakage levels when closed and requires specific installation torque parameters for proper setup. This product comes equipped with Viton seal kits for both cartridge and coil applications to ensure compatibility and longevity in demanding environments.

This valve is a normally-open, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased open. Energizing the coil generates an closing force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with no command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.
- Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
- Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
- Low leakage levels in the closed position.
- Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
- This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
- For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
- On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
- The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
