The Sun Hydraulics FPCHEAN812 (FPCHEAN812) is a normally open, electroproportional throttle valve designed for precise flow control in hydraulic systems. This valve is spring-biased to remain open and utilizes an energizing coil to generate a closing force on the spool proportional to the command current. This force is countered by the spring and flow forces, creating a metering orifice whose size adjusts with the current, allowing for controlled flow regulation. The valve inherently provides self-compensation in one direction and can manage proportional flow control in the opposite direction with an external compensator. Notably, it allows for full reverse flow without a command signal under all conditions. This model is available in both normally open and closed configurations and supports three different capacity ranges, making it versatile for various applications. It operates efficiently at pressures up to 5000 psi while maintaining low leakage levels when closed. The interchangeable coils can be mounted in either direction, enhancing flexibility during installation. For optimal performance, it is recommended to use an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither between 100-250 Hz. The FPCHEAN812 also features several manual override options, including a momentary twist override that allows manual shifting of the valve by rotating the override clockwise by 90 degrees. Its construction minimizes binding risks due to excessive torque or machining variations. With a capacity of 7 gpm (28 L/min) and specific cavity requirements (T-13A), this valve is built for robust performance in demanding environments, ensuring reliable operation across its mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles for certain control assemblies.

This valve is a normally-open, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased open. Energizing the coil generates an closing force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with no command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.

  • Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
  • Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
  • Low leakage levels in the closed position.
  • Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
  • For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
