The Sun Hydraulics FPCHECV724 (FPCHECV724) is a normally open, electroproportional throttle valve designed to provide precise flow control in hydraulic systems. This valve operates by balancing the force generated by energizing the coil against the spring and flow forces, creating a metering orifice that adjusts proportional to the command current. It offers significant self-compensation in one direction and can achieve proportional flow control in the opposite direction with an external compensator. Notably, it allows full reverse flow without a command under certain conditions. The FPCHECV724 is available in either normally open or closed configurations and supports pressures up to 5000 psi, ensuring robust performance across various applications. This valve features low leakage levels when closed and interchangeable coils compatible with other Sun solenoid-operated valves. The design includes multiple manual override options for flexible operation, with some models offering temporary actuation through a detent mechanism. For optimal functionality, it is recommended to use an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither between 100-250 Hz. The floating style construction minimizes internal binding risks due to installation torque or machining variations. Key specifications include a T-13A cavity configuration, series 1 classification, and a capacity of 7 gpm (28 L/min). The valve exhibits maximum leakage of 6 in\u00b3/min at 3000 psi (100 cc/min at 210 bar) and requires a manual override force of 5 lbs/1000 psi at Port 1 (33 N/100 bar). With a solenoid tube diameter of .75 inches (19 mm) and hex size of .78 inches (22.2 mm), installation torque ranges from 30-35 lbf ft (41-47 Nm). The model weighs approximately 1.10 lb (0.50 kg) with coil included, and Viton seal kits are available for both cartridge and coil components.

This valve is a normally-open, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased open. Energizing the coil generates an closing force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with no command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.

  • Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
  • Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
  • Low leakage levels in the closed position.
  • Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
  • For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
