The Sun Hydraulics FPCHECV724N (FPCHECV724N) is a high-performance, normally-open electroproportional throttle valve. It features a spring-biased open design that allows the valve to remain open until energized. When the coil is energized, it generates a closing force on the spool that is proportional to the command current, countered by the spring and flow forces. This creates a metering orifice whose size is adjustable based on the current, providing precise flow control. The valve is self-compensating in one direction and offers proportional flow control in the reverse direction with an external compensator. It supports full reverse flow without command under all conditions. Available in both normally open and closed configurations, this valve offers three capacity ranges and can operate at pressures up to 5000 psi while maintaining low leakage levels when closed. The interchangeable coils can be mounted in either direction, enhancing flexibility across applications. The cartridge includes multiple manual override options for added versatility, including momentary-twist and detent mechanisms designed for temporary actuation. For optimal performance, use with an amplifier featuring current sensing and adjustable dither between 100-250 Hz is recommended. The Sun Hydraulics floating style construction minimizes internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or cavity-cartridge machining variations. With a capacity of 7 gpm (28 L/min), this Series 1 valve fits T-13A cavities and requires specific installation torque and manual override force for effective operation. Its robust design ensures reliability across numerous hydraulic applications requiring precise flow control and adaptability to varying operational demands.

This valve is a normally-open, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased open. Energizing the coil generates an closing force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with no command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.

  • Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
  • Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
  • Low leakage levels in the closed position.
  • Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
  • For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
