The Sun Hydraulics FPCHLBV712 (FPCHLBV712) is a normally-open, electroproportional throttle valve designed for precise flow control in hydraulic systems. The valve is spring-biased open, and when the coil is energized, it generates a closing force on the spool proportional to the command current. This force is balanced by spring and flow forces to create a metering orifice whose size adjusts proportionally to the current. It offers significant self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and can achieve proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with an external compensator. The valve allows full reverse flow from 2 to 1 without a compensator under all conditions. The FPCHLBV712 can be configured as normally open or closed and comes in three capacity ranges, operating at pressures up to 5000 psi while maintaining low leakage levels when closed. Compatible coils are interchangeable with other Sun solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted in either direction on the tube. Manual override options include configurations without an override or with temporary actuation mechanisms like detent mechanisms for models with D or L controls, which have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles. Optimal performance requires an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither between 100-250 Hz. The momentary-twist override option (E) enables manual operation by twisting clockwise 90 degrees. Constructed using Sun's floating style design, this cartridge minimizes internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. The valve fits into cavity T-13A and belongs to Series 1 with a capacity of up to 7 gpm (28 L/min). It features specific installation requirements such as a hex size of .78 inches (22.2 mm) and installation torque of 30-35 lbf-ft (41-47 Nm). The model weight with coil is approximately 1.10 lb (0.50 kg), and it includes Viton seal kits for both cartridge and coil components.

This valve is a normally-open, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased open. Energizing the coil generates an closing force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with no command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.

  • Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
  • Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
  • Low leakage levels in the closed position.
  • Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
  • For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
