The Sun Hydraulics FPCHLCV624 (FPCHLCV624) is a sophisticated electroproportional throttle valve designed for precise flow control in hydraulic systems. This normally open valve is spring-biased, allowing it to maintain an open state until the coil is energized. When activated, the coil generates a closing force on the spool that is proportional to the command current, counterbalanced by spring and flow forces. This interaction creates a metering orifice whose effective size adjusts with the current, providing self-compensation in one flow direction and proportional control in the reverse direction with an external compensator. The valve supports full reverse flow without command under all conditions. Available in both normally open and closed configurations, this model offers three capacity ranges and operates at pressures up to 5000 psi. It features low leakage levels when closed and interchangeable coils compatible with other Sun solenoid-operated valves. The cartridge offers multiple manual override options for flexibility, including temporary actuation via detent mechanisms with a mechanical life expectancy of around 7,000 cycles. For optimal performance, it is recommended to use an amplifier with adjustable dither between 100-250 Hz. The FPCHLCV624 incorporates Sun's floating style construction to minimize internal binding due to installation torque or machining variations. It fits into a T13A cavity and boasts a capacity of 7 gpm (28 L/min). The valve's solenoid tube diameter measures 0.75 inches (19 mm), while its hex size is 7/8 inches (22.2 mm). Installation torque ranges from 30-35 lbf-ft (41-47 Nm), and the model weighs approximately 1.10 lb (0.50 kg) when equipped with a coil. Seal kits are available in Viton material for both cartridge and coil applications, ensuring reliable sealing performance under various conditions.

This valve is a normally-open, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased open. Energizing the coil generates an closing force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with no command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.
- Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
- Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
- Low leakage levels in the closed position.
- Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
- This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
- For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
- On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
- The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
