The Sun Hydraulics FPCHMBV724N (FPCHMBV724N) is a normally-open, electro-proportional throttle valve designed for precise flow control in hydraulic systems. This valve is spring-biased open and operates by generating a closing force on the spool proportional to the command current, countered by spring and flow forces, thus forming a metering orifice. The valve excels in self-compensation when controlling flow from port 1 to 2 and can provide proportional flow control from port 2 to 1 with an external compensator. It supports full reverse flow from port 2 to 1 without a command under all conditions. Available in both normally open and normally closed configurations, it offers three capacity ranges and can handle pressures up to 5000 psi, ensuring versatility in various applications. The FPCHMBV724N features low leakage levels when closed and interchangeable coils with other Sun solenoid-operated valves. Coils can be mounted bidirectionally on the tube. Several manual override options are available, including no override, enhancing operational flexibility. For optimal performance, using an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither between 100-250 Hz is recommended. The manual override options D or L include a detent mechanism intended for temporary actuation with a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles. Furthermore, the momentary-twist override option E allows shifting of the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise by 90 degrees. It incorporates Sun's floating style construction to minimize internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations in cavity-cartridge interfaces. Key specifications include a T-13A cavity type, series 1 classification, a capacity of up to 7 gpm (28 L/min), and specific requirements for manual override force and stroke dimensions. The model weighs approximately 1.10 lb (0.50 kg) with coil included, offering robust performance in demanding environments.

This valve is a normally-open, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased open. Energizing the coil generates an closing force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with no command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.

  • Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
  • Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
  • Low leakage levels in the closed position.
  • Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
  • For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
