The Sun Hydraulics FPCHTAV736 (FPCHTAV736) is a normally open, electro-proportional throttle valve designed for precise flow control in hydraulic systems. This valve is spring-biased open and utilizes an electric coil to generate a closing force on the spool, which is proportional to the command current. This force is countered by the spring and flow forces, creating a metering orifice whose effective size corresponds to the current. The FPCHTAV736 offers self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and can provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with an external compensator. It allows full reverse flow from port 2 to port 1 without command under all conditions. The valve can operate under pressures up to 5000 psi and features low leakage levels when closed. Coils are interchangeable with other Sun solenoid-operated valves, providing flexibility in installation. It also includes several manual override options, such as momentary-twist override, which allows temporary actuation by twisting clockwise 90 degrees. The FPCHTAV736 incorporates floating style construction to minimize internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. This model fits into a T-13A cavity and belongs to Series 1, with a capacity of up to 7 gpm (28 L/min). The maximum valve leakage at specified conditions is minimal at 6 in\u00b3/min (100 cc/min). Manual override requires a force of approximately 5 lbs/1000 psi (33 N/100 bar), with a stroke of .10 inches (2.5 mm). For optimum performance, it\u2019s recommended to use an amplifier with adjustable dither between 100-250 Hz. The valve's compact design includes a solenoid tube diameter of .75 inches (19 mm) and requires an installation torque between 30-35 lbf ft (41-47 Nm). With its robust construction and precise control capabilities, this valve is suitable for various demanding hydraulic applications.

This valve is a normally-open, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased open. Energizing the coil generates an closing force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with no command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.

  • Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
  • Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
  • Low leakage levels in the closed position.
  • Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
  • For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
