The Sun Hydraulics FPCHTCV712N (FPCHTCV712N) is a normally open, electro-proportional throttle valve designed for precise flow control in hydraulic systems. This valve is spring-biased to remain open and uses an energizing coil to apply a closing force on the spool, which is proportional to the command current. This interaction between the coil and spring creates a metering orifice that adjusts in size according to the current, allowing for fine-tuned flow control. The valve demonstrates significant self-compensation from port 1 to port 2 and can provide proportional flow control from port 2 to port 1 when paired with an external compensator. Notably, it allows full reverse flow from port 2 to port 1 without command under all conditions. The FPCHTCV712N is available in normally open or closed configurations across three capacity ranges and can operate under pressures up to 5000 psi. It features low leakage levels when closed, enhancing efficiency and reliability in demanding applications. Interchangeable coils with Sun's other solenoid-operated valves add versatility, and they can be mounted on either side of the tube. For optimal performance, it's recommended that this valve be used with an amplifier featuring current sensing and adjustable dither between 100-250 Hz. The valve incorporates Sun's floating style construction, minimizing risks of internal binding due to installation torque or machining variations. It also offers several manual override options for flexibility in operation. With a cavity requirement of T-13A and a series designation of 1, this cartridge valve has a capacity of up to 7 gpm (28 L/min). It maintains low maximum leakage rates at specified viscosities and pressures, ensuring efficient operation across various hydraulic applications.

This valve is a normally-open, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased open. Energizing the coil generates an closing force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with no command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.

  • Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
  • Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
  • Low leakage levels in the closed position.
  • Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
  • For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
