The Sun Hydraulics FPCHXAV2B24A (FPCHXAV2B24A) is a normally open, electroproportional throttle valve designed for precise flow control in hydraulic systems. This valve operates by balancing the force generated by energizing the coil with the spring and flow forces, creating a metering orifice whose size is proportional to the command current. It features a high degree of self-compensation for flow direction 1 to 2 and allows proportional flow control in direction 2 to 1 with an external compensator. The valve can handle pressures up to 5000 psi and offers low leakage levels when closed. It is available in normally open or closed configurations and three capacity ranges, with a maximum capacity of 7 gpm (28 L/min). The FPCHXAV2B24A incorporates Sun's floating style construction to minimize binding due to installation torque or machining variations. For enhanced performance, it is recommended to use an amplifier with adjustable dither between 100-250 Hz. The valve also includes several manual override options, such as the momentary-twist option E, which allows manual operation by twisting clockwise. The solenoid coils are interchangeable with other Sun solenoid-operated valves, offering flexibility in installation. This cartridge fits into cavity T-13A and requires an installation torque of 30-35 lbf ft (41-47 Nm). Weighing approximately 1.10 lb (0.50 kg), it comes with Viton seal kits for both cartridge and coil applications. The manual override has a mechanical life expectancy of about 7,000 cycles, ensuring reliable performance over time.

This valve is a normally-open, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased open. Energizing the coil generates an closing force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with no command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.
- Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
- Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
- Low leakage levels in the closed position.
- Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
- This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
- For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
- On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
- The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
