The Sun Hydraulics FPCHXCV224 (FPCHXCV224) is a versatile, normally-open electroproportional throttle valve designed for precise flow control in hydraulic systems. This valve is spring-biased open, and when the coil is energized, it generates a closing force on the spool that is proportional to the command current. This interaction between the coil and spring creates a metering orifice that adjusts its size based on the current, allowing for accurate flow regulation. It features self-compensation in one direction and provides proportional flow control with an external compensator in the opposite direction. The valve can handle pressures up to 5000 psi and exhibits low leakage levels when closed. The FPCHXCV224 model offers flexibility with configurations available in normally open or closed states and three different capacity ranges. It supports full reverse flow without command under certain conditions, even without a compensator. The interchangeable coils can be mounted in either direction, enhancing compatibility with other Sun solenoid-operated valves. For optimal performance, it's recommended to use an amplifier with adjustable dither between 100-250 Hz. This cartridge valve incorporates Sun's floating style construction to minimize binding due to installation torque or machining variations. It comes with several manual override options, including temporary actuation detent mechanisms and a momentary-twist option for quick manual operation. The valve fits into a T13A cavity and has a capacity of 7 gpm (28 L/min). Its installation requires specific torque settings for optimal performance, and it includes Viton seal kits for both cartridge and coil components to ensure durability and reliability in various applications.

This valve is a normally-open, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased open. Energizing the coil generates an closing force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with no command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.

  • Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
  • Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
  • Low leakage levels in the closed position.
  • Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
  • For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
