The Sun Hydraulics FPHKXCN912N (FPHKXCN912N) is a pilot-operated, normally closed electroproportional throttle valve with a reverse free flow check feature. This valve is designed to handle pressures up to 5000 psi and offers metered flow from port 1 to port 2, while allowing reverse free flow from port 2 to port 1. It is compatible with interchangeable coils from Sun's range of solenoid-operated valves, which can be mounted in either direction on the tube. The valve incorporates several manual override options, including a momentary-twist override that allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise by 90 degrees. For optimal performance, it is recommended to use an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither between 100 and 250 Hz. The FPHKXCN912N features Sun's floating style construction, which minimizes internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. This cartridge fits into a T16A cavity and belongs to Series 3, with a capacity of up to 60 gpm (240 L/min). The maximum valve leakage at 110 SUS (24 cSt) is rated at 10 drops per minute at 5000 psi. Additionally, the manual override requires a force of approximately 5 lbs/1000 psi at Port 1, with a stroke length of .06 inches. The solenoid tube diameter measures .75 inches, and the valve has a hex size of 1-1/4 inches. Installation torque for this model ranges from 150-160 lbf-ft (203-217 Nm). The model weight without coil is approximately 1.50 lbs (0.70 kg), increasing to about 2.00 lbs when equipped with a coil. Seal kits for both the cartridge and coil are available in Viton material under part numbers: Viton:990016006 and Viton:990770006 respectively.

This valve is a pilot operated, normally closed, electro-proportional throttle with reverse free flow check. Energizing the coil generates an opening force on the pilot stage which vents the main stage poppet to open proportionally. Metered flow is from port 1 to port 2 with reverse free flow from port 2 to port 1.
- Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
- Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
- This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
- For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
- The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
- Depending on circuit requirements, a reverse free flow check bypassing the compensator may be needed when using the FPHK with an external compensator.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
