The Sun Hydraulics FRDCLBV (FRDCLBV) is a specialized hydraulic valve designed to control flow in the bypass mode exclusively. This valve is a modified version of the FRDA, aimed at enhancing system stability under specific conditions by ensuring that when bypass pressure surpasses the priority port pressure, the priority flow ceases to be pressure compensated. Customers can specify a desired flow rating, with factory settings accurate within 10% of the requested value. The maximum allowable pressure at port 3 is capped at 3000 psi (210 bar), while bypass flow becomes available only after satisfying priority flow requirements. The sharp-edged orifice design reduces flow variations caused by viscosity changes, and an adjustable control option allows for up to a 25% variation from the nominal factory preset flow, adjusted via three turns of an adjustment screw. The FRDCLBV incorporates Sun's floating style construction to minimize internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. It fits into cavity T-2A and belongs to Series 2, with a capacity of up to 12 gpm (45 L/min) and a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). It can handle a maximum input flow of 30 gpm (120 L/min). The valve features a hex size of 1-1/8 inches (28.6 mm) and requires an installation torque between 45 and 50 lbf-ft (61-68 Nm). The adjustment screw has an internal hex size of 5/32 inches (4 mm), while the locknut measures 9/16 inches (15 mm) and should be torqued between 80 and 90 lbf-in (9-10 Nm). The model weighs approximately .40 lb (.20 kg) and uses Viton seal kits for cartridge sealing.

This valve is a modification of an FRDA. It controls flow in the bypass mode only. If the bypass pressure exceeds the pressure at the priority port the priority flow will no longer be pressure compensated. This modification was done in an attempt to improve system stability in specific cases.

  • Customer must specify a flow rating. Factory set flow ratings are within +/- 10% of the requested setting.
