The Sun Hydraulics FRDCOAV (Material Number: FRDCOAV) is a specialized hydraulic valve designed for controlling flow in the bypass mode only. This valve is a modification of the standard FRDA model, aimed at enhancing system stability in specific applications by ensuring that when bypass pressure exceeds the priority port pressure, the priority flow is no longer pressure compensated. Customers can specify a flow rating, which is factory set with an accuracy within 10% of the requested setting. The maximum allowable pressure at port 3 is 3000 psi (210 bar), and bypass flow becomes available only after priority flow requirements are met. Featuring a sharp-edged orifice design, this valve minimizes flow variations due to changes in viscosity. The FRDCOAV includes a tunable adjustment control option that allows for up to 25% variation from the nominal factory preset flow, adjusted using three turns of an internal hex screw. This component utilizes Sun's floating style construction to reduce potential binding of internal parts due to excessive installation torque or variations in cavity/cartridge machining. It fits into a T-2A cavity and belongs to Series 2 with a capacity of 12 gpm (45 L/min) and can handle a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). The valve supports a maximum input flow of 30 gpm (120 L/min). Installation requires a torque between 45-50 lbf ft (61-68 Nm), and adjustments are made using a screw with an internal hex size of 5/32 inch (4 mm). The locknut has a hex size of 9/16 inch (15 mm) and should be torqued between 80-90 lbf in (9-10 Nm). This valve is a modification of an FRDA. It controls flow in the bypass mode only. If the bypass pressure exceeds the pressure at the priority port the priority flow will no longer be pressure compensated. This modification was done in an attempt to improve system stability in specific cases.
