The Sun Hydraulics FRFACAV (FRFACAV) is a versatile bypass-restrictive, fixed-orifice, priority flow control valve designed to manage hydraulic flow efficiently. It takes an input flow at port 1 and directs it to satisfy the priority flow at port 3. If the input exceeds the priority requirement, the excess is bypassed out port 2 for use in secondary circuits. This model allows for factory-set flow ratings with a precision of \u00b110% of the requested setting, and offers a tunable adjustment control option that provides up to a 22% variation from the nominal preset flow. The maximum pressure at port 3 should not exceed 3000 psi (210 bar), while both priority and bypass flows can handle system operating pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar). The valve features Sun's floating style construction which minimizes internal binding due to installation torque or machining variations. The FRFACAV has a capacity of 50 gpm (200 L/min) with a maximum input flow of 120 gpm (480 L/min). It fits into cavity T19A and requires a valve hex size of 1-5/8 inches (41.3 mm) with an installation torque between 350-375 lbf ft (475-508 Nm). The adjustment screw has an internal hex size of 5/32 inches (4 mm), while the locknut requires a hex size of 9/16 inches (15 mm) and torque of 80-90 lbf in (9-10 Nm). Weighing in at approximately 2.70 lb (1.25 kg), this model incorporates Viton seal kits for enhanced durability. Notably, if the bypass port is blocked, it functions as a two-port restrictive flow control, ensuring that priority flow requirements are met before any bypass occurs.

Bypass/restrictive, fixed-orifice, priority flow controls take an input flow at port 1 and use it to satisfy the priority flow at port 3. If the input flow exceeds the priority flow requirement, the excess is bypassed out port 2. The bypass flow may be used in a secondary circuit.

  • Customer must specify a flow rating. Factory set flow ratings are within +/- 10% of the requested setting.
  • Maximum pressure at port 3 should be limited to 3000 psi (210 bar).
  • A tuneable adjustment control option provides up to +/- 22% variation from the nominal factory pre-set flow. Adjustment is done with +/- 3 turns of the adjust screw. Screw in (CW) to increase flow.
  • Both priority and bypass flow are usable up to the system operating pressure.
  • Priority remains relatively constant regardless of variation in input flow.
  • Bypass flow is not available until priority flow requirements are satisfied.
  • Pressure at the bypass port (port 2) may exceed pressure at the priority port (port 3).
  • The sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
