The Sun Hydraulics FRFAXAV (Material Number: FRFAXAV) is a precision-engineered bypass-restrictive, fixed-orifice, priority flow control valve designed to manage input flow effectively. It directs the primary flow to port 3, ensuring that any excess is bypassed to port 2 for use in secondary circuits. Customers can specify a flow rating, with factory settings accurate within 10% of the requested value. The valve features a tunable adjustment control allowing up to 22% variation from the nominal factory preset flow, adjustable through three turns of an internal hex screw. Capable of handling both priority and bypass flows up to system operating pressure, it maintains consistent priority flow regardless of input variations. The sharp-edged orifice design minimizes viscosity-induced flow variations and incorporates Sun's floating style construction to prevent internal binding from excessive torque or machining discrepancies. The FRFAXAV is built for robust applications with a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and can handle an input flow of up to 120 gpm (480 L/min). Its cavity is T19A, series 4, with a capacity of 50 gpm (200 L/min). Installation requires a torque between 350-375 lbf ft (475-508 Nm), and it features specific hex sizes for both the valve and locknut adjustments. Weighing in at 2.70 lb (1.25 kg), this model includes a Viton seal kit for enhanced durability. The design ensures that pressure at the bypass port may exceed that at the priority port without compromising performance, making it suitable for complex hydraulic systems where precise control and reliability are paramount.

Bypass/restrictive, fixed-orifice, priority flow controls take an input flow at port 1 and use it to satisfy the priority flow at port 3. If the input flow exceeds the priority flow requirement, the excess is bypassed out port 2. The bypass flow may be used in a secondary circuit.

  • Customer must specify a flow rating. Factory set flow ratings are within +/- 10% of the requested setting.
  • Maximum pressure at port 3 should be limited to 3000 psi (210 bar).
  • A tuneable adjustment control option provides up to +/- 22% variation from the nominal factory pre-set flow. Adjustment is done with +/- 3 turns of the adjust screw. Screw in (CW) to increase flow.
  • Both priority and bypass flow are usable up to the system operating pressure.
  • Priority remains relatively constant regardless of variation in input flow.
  • Bypass flow is not available until priority flow requirements are satisfied.
  • Pressure at the bypass port (port 2) may exceed pressure at the priority port (port 3).
  • The sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
