The Sun Hydraulics FXCAKAV (FXCAKAV) is a fixed orifice, pressure-compensated flow control valve designed for precise flow regulation in both meter-in and meter-out applications, even in conditions with significant pressure fluctuations. This model allows users to specify a flow rating, which is factory set within 10% of the requested setting. The FXCAKAV incorporates a sharp-edged orifice design that minimizes flow variations due to changes in viscosity, ensuring consistent performance. It features a tuneable control option providing up to 25% variation from the nominal factory preset flow, adjustable by turning the screw clockwise to increase flow. This cartridge valve is constructed with EPDM seals suitable for systems using phosphate ester fluids but should not be exposed to petroleum-based fluids as they can damage the seals. The corrosion-resistant design is available with external stainless steel components or zinc-nickel plating for use in corrosive environments. The FXCAKAV uses Sun's floating style construction to prevent internal parts from binding due to excessive installation torque or cavity-cartridge machining variations. The valve fits into a T-13A cavity and belongs to Series 1, offering a capacity of 6 gpm (23 L/min) and can withstand a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). Installation requires specific torque settings: valve installation torque is between 30-35 lbf ft (41-47 Nm), while the locknut torque ranges from 80-90 lbf in (9-10 Nm). The model weighs approximately .30 lb (0.15 kg) and has interchangeable functionality with other two-port flow control cartridges of the same frame size.

Fixed-orifice, pressure-compensated flow controls provide precise flow regulation for meter-in or meter-out applications where there may be wide pressure fluctuations. The flow setting is specified by the user and is set at the factory.
- Customer must specify a flow rating. Factory set flow ratings are within +/- 10% of the requested setting.
- Cartridges with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- The sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes.
- The tuneable control option provides +/- 25% variation from the nominal factory pre-set flow. Turn the adjustment clockwise to increase.
- All 2-port flow control cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). However, cartridge extension dimensions from the mounting surface may vary.
- Corrosion resistant cartridge valves are intended for use in corrosive environments and are identified by the model code suffix /AP for external stainless steel components, or /LH for external zinc-nickel plated components. See the CONFIGURATION section for all options. For further details, please see the Materials of Construction page located under TECH RESOURCES.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
