The Sun Hydraulics FXCALBV (FXCALBV) is a precision-engineered fixed orifice, pressure-compensated flow control valve designed for applications requiring precise flow regulation. This versatile component is suitable for meter-in or meter-out applications where pressure fluctuations are common. It features a user-specified flow setting that is factory-set, allowing for a 10% variation within the requested setting. The valve accommodates EPDM seals for compatibility with phosphate ester fluids, and its sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes. The FXCALBV model offers a tunable control option providing a 25% variation from the nominal factory preset flow, adjustable by turning the screw clockwise to increase flow. All two-port flow control cartridges are interchangeable in terms of flow path and cavity size, though extension dimensions may vary from the mounting surface. The FXCALBV operates within a maximum capacity of 6 gpm (23 L/min) and can withstand pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar). It features corrosion-resistant options identified by suffixes AP or LH in the model code, indicating external stainless steel or zinc-nickel plated components respectively. This model incorporates Sun's floating style construction to reduce the risk of internal binding due to installation torque or machining variations. The valve's compact design includes specific dimensions: a valve hex size of 7/8 inches (22.2 mm), an adjustment screw internal hex size of 5/32 inches (4 mm), and a locknut hex size of 9/16 inches (15 mm) with torque specifications provided for secure installation. Overall, the Sun Hydraulics FXCALBV offers reliable performance in demanding environments requiring precise hydraulic flow control.

Fixed-orifice, pressure-compensated flow controls provide precise flow regulation for meter-in or meter-out applications where there may be wide pressure fluctuations. The flow setting is specified by the user and is set at the factory.
- Customer must specify a flow rating. Factory set flow ratings are within +/- 10% of the requested setting.
- Cartridges with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- The sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes.
- The tuneable control option provides +/- 25% variation from the nominal factory pre-set flow. Turn the adjustment clockwise to increase.
- All 2-port flow control cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). However, cartridge extension dimensions from the mounting surface may vary.
- Corrosion resistant cartridge valves are intended for use in corrosive environments and are identified by the model code suffix /AP for external stainless steel components, or /LH for external zinc-nickel plated components. See the CONFIGURATION section for all options. For further details, please see the Materials of Construction page located under TECH RESOURCES.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
