The Sun Hydraulics GBD (GBD) is an ISO 03 sandwich body designed for multifunctional use, offering significant circuit flexibility without the need for a counterbore for installing O-ring seals. Instead, it utilizes a special seal plate featuring a raised NIB and a locating notch. This design allows the bodies to be rotated about the NIB axis and the longitudinal axis to achieve desired functionality, thanks to oversized, symmetrical mounting holes. The body type is classified as Sandwich with an ISO 03 interface, allowing flow into or out of workport A or B. It has a stack height of 1.75 inches (44.5 mm) and includes an open cavity identified as T5A. The GBD model is constructed from 6061-T651 aluminum, known for its strength, cost-effectiveness, machinability, availability in various shapes and sizes, and excellent corrosion resistance. Despite not being anodized\u2014a process that could enhance corrosion resistance but potentially reduce fatigue life\u2014the material choice ensures durability in various applications without compromising performance. This product is suitable for applications requiring reliable hydraulic flow management and flexibility in circuit design. Its unique construction allows it to be easily integrated into complex systems where precise control over hydraulic flow is essential. The design considerations ensure that when multiple sandwich bodies are stacked together, they maintain a consistent aesthetic while providing functional benefits such as ease of assembly and enhanced sealing capabilities. When assembling stacks of these sandwich valves, it's crucial to keep O-ring sealing surfaces dry to prevent unintended fluid paths from forming due to hydrostatic properties. Additionally, careful attention must be paid to avoid burrs or dings on seal plates that could compromise the integrity of the assembly.

Sun's ISO 03 sandwich bodies are designed for multi-functional use to permit maximum circuit flexibility. Due to this versatility, the ISO 03 sandwich bodies do not have a counterbore for installing o-ring seals. Instead, Sun uses a special seal plate with a raised "NIB" and a locating "NOTCH". These bodies incorporate oversize, symmetrical mounting holes to allow the bodies to be rotated about the "NIB" axis and the longitudinal axis to achieve the desired functionality.

Notes:
  • Important: Carefully consider the maximum system pressure. The pressure rating of the manifold is dependent on the manifold material, with the port type/size a secondary consideration. Manifolds constructed of aluminum are not rated for pressures higher than 3000 psi (210 bar), regardless of the port type/size specified.
