The Sun Hydraulics NCEBKDV (NCEBKDV) is a needle valve with a reverse flow check, designed as a fully adjustable orifice to regulate flow. It is capable of infinite adjustment from fully closed to its maximum orifice diameter. This model features an integral high-capacity check valve that allows unrestricted flow from port 2 to port 1, although it is not pressure compensated. The NCEBKDV is physically and functionally interchangeable with other 2-port flow control cartridges of the same frame size, meaning they share the same flow path and cavity. However, the cartridge extension dimensions may vary from the mounting surface. As a non-compensating device, this needle valve regulates flow in proportion to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2 due to its fixed orifice size. The design includes a balanced adjustment mechanism for easy adjustment even under high pressures. Its sharp-edged orifice minimizes flow variations attributed to changes in viscosity. Cartridges with EPDM seals are intended for systems using phosphate ester fluids, as exposure to petroleum-based fluids can damage these seals. The Sun floating style construction helps prevent internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations in the cavity-cartridge interface.
