The Sun Hydraulics NCEBOAV (Material Number: NCEBOAV) is a needle valve with a reverse-flow check designed to regulate flow through an adjustable orifice. This valve allows for infinite adjustment from fully closed to the maximum orifice diameter, providing precise control over hydraulic flow rates. It features an integral high-capacity check valve that permits unrestricted flow from port 2 to port 1, though it is not pressure compensated. The design includes a balanced adjustment mechanism, facilitating easy adjustments even at high pressures. The sharp-edged orifice minimizes variations in flow due to changes in fluid viscosity. This valve is compatible with phosphate ester fluids when configured with EPDM seals, but these seals should not be exposed to petroleum-based fluids as they may cause damage. The Sun floating style construction helps prevent internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. Physically and functionally interchangeable with other 2-port flow control cartridges of the same frame size, it maintains a consistent flow path and cavity dimensions, though cartridge extension dimensions may vary. With a capacity of 12 gpm (45 L/min) and a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), this model ensures robust performance under demanding conditions. Maximum valve leakage is limited to 10 drops/min at 110 SUS (24 cSt). Installation requires specific torque settings: the valve hex size is 1-1/8 inches (28.6 mm) with an installation torque of 45-50 lbf ft (61-68 Nm). Adjustment requires a number of counterclockwise turns from fully closed to open, using an internal hex size of 5/32 inches (4 mm). The locknut hex size is 9/16 inches (15 mm) with a torque requirement of 80-90 lbf in (9-10 Nm). The model weighs .40 lb (.20 kg), and Viton seal kits are available for maintenance needs.

Needle valves with reverse-flow check are fully adjustable orifices used to regulate flow. They are infinitely adjustable from fully closed up to the maximum orifice diameter. An integral high-capacity check valve provides unrestricted flow from port 2 to port 1. They are not pressure compensated.
- All 2-port flow control cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). However, cartridge extension dimensions from the mounting surface may vary.
- Because needle valves are non-compensating devices, the fixed orifice size will regulate flow through the valve in proportion to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2.
- A balanced adjustment mechanism allows for easy adjustment even at high pressures.
- The sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes.
- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
