The Sun Hydraulics NCECHAV (NCECHAV) is a versatile needle valve with a reverse flow check, designed to provide precise flow regulation through an adjustable orifice. This component allows infinite adjustability from fully closed to the maximum orifice diameter, making it suitable for applications requiring variable flow control. It features an integral high-capacity check valve that ensures unrestricted flow from port 2 to port 1. The valve is not pressure compensated, meaning the fixed orifice size regulates flow based on the square root of the pressure differential between ports 1 and 2. This model incorporates Sun's floating style construction, which helps prevent internal parts from binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations in the cavity and cartridge. The NCECHAV model is designed for easy adjustment even under high-pressure conditions, thanks to its balanced adjustment mechanism. It also includes a sharp-edged orifice design that minimizes flow variations caused by changes in fluid viscosity. The valve has a capacity of 3 gpm (11 L/min) and can operate at pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar). It exhibits minimal leakage at 110 SUS (24 cSt), with a maximum of 5 drops per minute (0.3 cc/min). The valve requires specific installation and adjustment torques: 45-50 lbf ft (61-68 Nm) for installation and 80-90 lbf in (9-10 Nm) for the locknut. Physically and functionally interchangeable with other two-port flow control cartridges of the same frame size, this needle valve offers consistent performance across different setups while maintaining compatibility with existing systems. Its compact design includes a valve hex size of 1-1/8 inches (28.6 mm), an internal hex size of 5/32 inches (4 mm) for adjustment screws, and a locknut hex size of 9/16 inches (15 mm). The model weighs approximately .40 lb (.20 kg).

Needle valves with reverse-flow check are fully adjustable orifices used to regulate flow. They are infinitely adjustable from fully closed up to the maximum orifice diameter. An integral high-capacity check valve provides unrestricted flow from port 2 to port 1. They are not pressure compensated.

  • All 2-port flow control cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). However, cartridge extension dimensions from the mounting surface may vary.
  • Because needle valves are non-compensating devices, the fixed orifice size will regulate flow through the valve in proportion to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2.
  • A balanced adjustment mechanism allows for easy adjustment even at high pressures.
  • The sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
